24th session of People's Assembly kicks-off in Astana

    The 24th session of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan chaired by President Nursultan Nazarbayev has begun in Astana.
    As was reported earlier, Secretary of State Gulshara Abdykalikova chaired an expanded session of the Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan on the threshold of today's session. She noted the meeting would be historic for the people of Kazakhstan.
    "This session will become a historic milestone for the assembly. First of all, the agenda — Independence. Accord. A Nation with a Common Future reflects the importance of strengthening peace as a condition for the successful development of Kazakhstan during a period of the global transformation and economic turbulence. Second, the session will allow us to sum up the results of the implementation of the fourth of the five institutional reforms which is - Identity and Unity. Besides, the report on the implementation of the nationwide patriotic concept — Mangilik Yel will be presented there as well. Third, the session will be held this year, the year of the 25th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan," she stressed.
    More than 1,500 people are expected to take part in the the 24th session of the People's Assembly, Kazinform reports.
