Kazakhstan, XUAR bilateral relations discussed in Astana

At the Ukimet Uyi yesterday, Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Bakhytzhan Sagintayev held a meeting with Zhang Chunxian, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR).
The two sides discussed prospects for bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and XUAR.
Sagintayev and Chunxian reviewed building cultural and trade-investment relations, which is being helped by the Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation, the opening of the Green Corridor for Chinese agricultural products, the increase in traffic over railroad crossings such as the Dostyk-Alashankou, the Altynkol-Horgos and cooperation at the Lianyungang marine terminal.
In this regard, the two men noted the need to create the Inter-Regional Cooperation Forum between Kazakhstan and the PRC.
The two parties also discussed various trade and economic issues, industrial and innovative cooperation, cooperation in transport projects and agriculture, Kazinform reports.
