New Astana railway station to open in March 2017

    A new green technology railway station will open in Astana in March 2017, Kazinform learnt from 24.kz.
    More than 6,000 workers are employed in the project.
    The building will be equipped with energy efficient elevators, escalators and heat exchangers.
    Trains will arrive in the complex building.
    “The old station had a capacity of 4.6 million passengers per year, while real capacity today is 6.7 million. The new project is designed to serve up to 12.7 million people per annum,” Bagzat Rakhimzhanov, an official from NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy says.
    “The new project fully meets modern requirements. The trains will arrive on the third floor of the building. 2-story closed parking-lots will be opened under the pathways. Passengers will be able to arrive at the station with their own cars or by public transportation. Booking offices will be located on the first and fourth floors,” according to Deputy Director for Overhaul Construction at Sembol JSC, Suleiman Yilmaz says, according to Kazinform.
