Idrissov takes part in 71st session of UN General Assembly

Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerlan Idrissov has taken part in events during the 71
st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
"The current session of the UN General Assembly is being held in the year of the 25
th anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan. Therefore, at our meetings and in our statements, we will highlight the importance of this date for Kazakhstan," said Idrissov.
According to the minister, the most important goal for the Kazakh delegation is to promote the president’s initiatives in the areas of global security, nuclear disarmament, fight against terrorism, promotion of sustainable development.
Idrissov noted Kazakhstan has recently been elected as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018.
"All the delegation’s meetings in New York this week will be largely devoted to our membership in the Security Council. We will tell our international partners about the priorities of our non-permanent membership”.
“The foundation of our membership program is the peace-loving policy of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the struggle for a nuclear-free world, the fight against new threats and challenges, such as international terrorism and radicalism, and, of course, sustainable development for all countries, particularly for developing," Idrissov stressed.
During of the UN General Assembly session, the foreign affairs minister will take part in a number of multilateral events and bilateral meetings with the widest range of international partners, according to Akipress.
