The ratification of the Paris agreements will result in the introduction of OECD standards in Kazakhstan, Kazakh parliament MPs say.
During a recent meeting in Astana, the MPs discussed steps to reduce harmful emissions and to implement the Green Economy Concept in the country.
The agreement is designed to combat global climate change and the rising average global temperature.
To this end, countries that have ratified the document, should contribute to reducing the accumulation of greenhouse gases, officials say.
Gani Sadibekiv, vice minister of energy said, “We plan to increase the contribution of alternative and renewable energy sources to 10% by 2020 under the Green Economy Concept. We also intend to reduce the share of greenhouse gas emissions to 20% from the level of 1990 by 2030, Kazakh TV reports.
