About 40 nations hope to cooperate with EEU

    About 40 countries have demonstrated interest in cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov said during an expanded session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on October 27 in Minsk, BelTA reports.
    Kobyakov said, "All in all, about 40 countries have shown interest in cooperating with the Eurasian Economic Union in one way or another, including large countries such as China and India."
    He noted the Eurasian Economic Union member states have put considerable effort into reaching foreign markets and positioning the union as a successful and stable integration association on the international scene.
    "We have managed to achieve a lot in this regard," he stressed. Kobyakov also reminded those present that the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam came into force on October 5, 2016.
    The agreement has opened up new opportunities for cooperation between the partnering countries, he said.
    Key items on the union’s integration agenda were discussed during a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk on October 27.
    In particular, participants talked over the new draft Eurasian Economic Union Customs Code as well as its draft budget for 2017. They also reviewed accomplishments in international affairs and certain aspects of trade policy, including regarding antidumping measures, Kazinform has learned from BelTA, according to Kazinform.
