Nazarbayev congratulates Mirziyoyev on election victory

    President Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election as president of Uzbekistan, a news statement from Ak Orda states.
    "I am sure that with your arrival, large transformations to strengthen stability and safety in brotherly Uzbekistan will continue," the message said. The president stressed that united efforts will give a new impulse to development of strategic partnership of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and also cooperation with all countries of the Central Asia.
    "Taking a chance, I suggest to continue our dialogue in Astana and to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan at any time convenient for you," the message states.
    The presidential election took place in Uzbekistan on December 4. Acting President Shavkat Merziyeev gained 88.61% of the votes, Kazinform reports.
