President scheduled Senate elections in June

Kazakhstan President signed a decree according to which elections of the Senate deputies will be held in June this year, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the Akorda site.
"In accordance with subparagraph 2) of Article 44 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Article 69 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 28, 1995 "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan", in connection with termination of the constitutional term of office of the Senate deputies, elected in August 2011, I decree to call the elections on June 28, 2017," the document says.
The Head of State instructed the government, mayors of Astana and Almaty, governors of regions to take measures on organizational, material and technical and financial support for the elections.
The decree is put into effect from the date of publication.
Senate Deputies are elected for a period of 6 years. Every 3 years, half of the senators (16 people) are re-elected. The last time the elections were held in 2011.
