Finprom.kz portal compiled a rating of the most profitable companies subject to privatisation in Kazakhstan.
In the second wave of state-run companies’ privatization in 2016-2020, according to official data, they are 877 companies, including 215 assets of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund. In the first privatisation in 2014-2015, 37 objects were privatised. Starting price was 47.3 billion tenge, and the selling price 49.9 billion tenge.
The privatised objects of the Fund are located in Astana and Almaty, 14 regions of Kazakhstan and 19 countries. Samruk-Kazyna plans to bring to the IPO at least 6 companies: NAC Kazatomprom JSC, Air Astana JSC, Samruk-Energo JSC, NC KazMunaiGas JSC, Kazpost JSC and JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC.
The TOP-3 profitable enterprises of 2017 (data for January-September), are national companies KazMunaiGaz, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Kazatomprom, included in the six companies, whose shares are subject to public offering.
In the first place is Kazakhstan Temir Zholy with a gross income of 130.77 billion tenge over 9 months of 2017, and with 3.8% increment on-year. At the same time, during the period under review, a loss of KZT29.5bn was recorded (cf.: in the previous year net profit was KZT23.5 bn.).
KazMunayGas is in the second place: the company's gross income made 104.5 billion tenge, which is 29.45% (43.63 billion tenge) less than in 9 months of 2016. At the same time, the net profit amounted to 444 billion tenge, which is twice as much on-year, and the positive value here is due to profit after taxation from discontinued operations.
The third place in profitability is held by Kazatomprom, whose gross income as of the end of September 2017 amounted to KZT 52.74 billion, 44.11% less than in the previous period.
The net profit is KZT36.43 m. (-60.63% over a year).
