Life expectancy in Kazakhstan has increased by 6 years over the past 10 years, and the average figure was 72.3 years. This was stated at a press conference in the Central Communications Service by the director of the department of medical assistance organization of the Health Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Laura Akhmetniyazova, Kazpravda reports.
"Our life expectancy has increased by 6 years over the last 10 years, and the life expectancy of Kazakhstanis has reached 72.3 years by the end of 2016. The overall death rate of the population has decreased by almost 30 percent, and such priority indicators as maternal and infant mortality have decreased. We annually register the improvement of these indicators. Mortality from socially significant diseases has also decreased: diseases of the circulatory system and tuberculosis," said Akhmetniyazova.
She also noted that the health care system in recent years has been focused on prevention, early detection and effective treatment of diseases most influencing the demographic situation in the country.
"These are the diseases of the circulatory system, cancer, trauma. Special attention was paid to the protection of the health of the mother and the child. Comprehensive measures, that the state is taking and will take, have already brought good results," Akhmetniyazova said.
