Zhenis Kasymbek named Kazakhstan’s new export commodities

In the past year Kazakhstan had eight new export commodities, Minister for Investment and Development, Zhenis Kasymbek told the Government meeting, Kazpravda reports.

"In order to increase the share of non-oil exports, joint work is being carried out with branch ministries, Atameken, Kazakh Invest and Kazakhexport companies, as well as akimats to upgrade the existing enterprises and introduce new export-oriented production facilities. As it is known, in 2017 eight new products were exported to foreign markets, such as Niva and Peugeot cars, solar panels, gas boilers, cartridges, rails, POS terminals and dry mare's milk," the minister said.

According to him, the geography of Kazakhstan's exports to date includes 123 countries.

"The key markets are China (22.9%), the EAEU (20.8%) and the EU countries (21.8%), which together account for more than 65% of exports .The leaders are China and Russia, which are the countries of priority export interest, "Kasymbek noted, adding that in general, the positive dynamics of exports remains.

"In 2017, the export strategy was approved, aimed at fulfilling the key task of increasing non-oil exports 1.5 times by 2022. Thus, in the current year, the export dynamics remain positive: in 2 months of 2018, according to operative data, exports amounted to more than $8.8bn, which is 27 percent ($1.9bn) higher on-year, "Kasymbek said.
