National Fund sold 42 billion tenge worth in assets, promises IPO this year

Kazakhstan’s long-hail privatisation scheme should see a fresh milestone before the end of the year with several assets now belonging to the state opening their doors to private investors.

Head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with the chairman of the board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Akhmetzhan Yessimov, according to the press service of Akorda.

During the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan was informed about the company's work for 7 months of the current year and plans for the forthcoming period.

"The main indicators for the first half of the year are positive. In particular, the holding's transformation is continuing, 18 assets worth KZT 42 billion have been sold within the framework of privatization. Three companies - Kazakhtelecom, Air Astana and Kazatomprom – are planned for IPO before the year end," Akhmetzhan Yessimov said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the importance of transferring the Fund's procurements to a competitive environment and noted that the work carried out will positively affect the small and medium-sized businesses.

In conclusion, the Head of State gave a number of instructions on increasing the efficiency of the activities of Samruk Kazyna JSC.
