This was announced at Forum devoted to the discussion of nuclear issues in New-York.
Deputy minister of foreign affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev noted nuclear-free zones will be able to achieve great success only in the case of close and effective interaction with each other, BNews.kz correspondent informs.
"Kazakhstan is ready to unite the leaders of the nuclear powers and Mongolia and prominent activists in this area in order to substantively discuss joint steps to enhance interaction between the zones," Ashikbayev stated.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was the first one who initiated to consolidate nuclear zones. It was announced at the IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank opening ceremony in Kazakhstan in August 2017.
According to the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry interaction between the nuclear-free zones, including different levels of institutionalization and capacity, and also called for effective cooperation on the eve of the fourth conference of the state-participants of the nuclear-free zones in 2020 were talked over in the frames of the Forum.
The event was attended by the Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Ms.Izumi Nakamitsu, Secretary-General of the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean of the (OPANAL) Luiz Filipe de Macedo Soares, Senior Representative of the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) John Borrie, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UN Sukhbold Sukhee, and other high representatives of the UN member states.
Besides, The UN Security Council held an open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the question of Palestine.
While speaking at the debates, Yerzhan Ashikbayev noted that the instability and interconnectedness of events in the Middle East cause upheavals not only in the region but also beyond, with serious consequences for global security.
The Deputy foreign minister of Kazakhstan once again voiced out Kazakhstan’s opinion concerning support of Palestine’s right to independence, and Israel’s security, and called for the early resumption of negotiations in a bilateral format and without preconditions in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant UNSC resolutions.
