Presentation of the international study “Global Risk Rating for Eurasia in 2019” was held at the special session of the fourth annual meeting of the Astana Club hosted by the Nazarbayev Center, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the organizing committee of the Astana club.

According to analysts, the key global risks for the region are: aggravation of the confrontation between China and the United States, full-scale trade wars; the war in the Middle East; further degradation of relations between Russia and the West; "Defrosting" of hot spots in Eurasia; growth of separatism and ethno-confessional conflicts; aggravation of environmental and water challenges; evolution of cyber threats; the beginning of a new arms race; risk of major nuclear and man-made disasters.

The purpose of the rating is to assess current geopolitical and geo-economic processes both in the Eurasian region and in the world.

"Today, in the context of trade and sanction wars, growing militarization, the most important international institutions for resolving disputes, including the UN and the WTO, have come under threat. For Kazakhstan as a country located in the epicenter of all the processes in Eurasia, it is very important that its participants find peaceful and compromise solutions to existing contradictions. Therefore, building a dialogue between the leading centers of power of Eurasia is among topmost priorities of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy," - said Yerzhan Saltybaev, the Director of the Institute of World Economy and Politics at Kazakhstan First President Foundation.

According to the organizing committee, over 30 reputable experts and politicians took part in the study, whose opinion is reckoned with by state leaders, international institutions and major media. Also, more than 1,000 professional respondents from 60 countries were polled.Among the authors of the study are outstanding minds and Nobel laureates.
