04.12.2018

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, speaking at the forum "Uly Dala Muragerleri", dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, outlined promising directions for development of the NIS.

The head of state paid special attention to the importance of learning foreign languages, Kazpravda reports.

"Speaking foreign languages in the context of globalization has become a vital necessity. Language skills help understand mentality and culture of other people, open opportunities to get better higher education and better job,” said the President.

In particular, along with English, Nursultan Nazarbayev urged young Kazakhstanis to learn Chinese - since China is a close neighbor and an important trading partner of our country.

Furthermore, the Head of State stressed the importance of developing emotional intelligence and cooperation.

"An important quality of a competitive personality in the modern world is emotional intelligence. They say artificial intelligence will replace everything. But human emotions cannot be replaced. Machines, computers and algorithms will not be able to do it. Therefore, great attention is paid to a person's emotional intelligence. The ability to unite and lead people will be of particular value in the future labor market", - said the Head of State.

“I am sure that the 10th anniversary of the Intellectual Schools will be the beginning of a new impressive stage of development, even greater achievements for the benefit and prosperity of our country and for each of you,” the President stressed.

"It is important for us to maintain a positive dynamic and identify new directions of development. First, this is the widespread introduction of digitalization that is going on in our country under a special state program. Already now we need new specialists who can work in the field of digital technology, bioengineering and robotics. We see that some students of these schools are already creating start-ups, showing their opportunities for participation in digitalization and new technologies,” said Nazarbayev.

The President stressed that over the next 10-15 years, artificial intelligence and automation technology will become an integral part of human life.

"Today, in Asia alone, 5 million children are deeply studying robotics, 15 million - information technologies. They are successful and are preparing for the future where artificial intelligence and robots will replace hundreds of today's professions. Our country has no right to fall behind. And your key to success is the knowledge and skills", - Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed the NIS students.

The head of state also drew attention to the fact that it is necessary to be in the trend of new technologies and advanced innovations. He noted that according to experts, by 2030, computers will replace 400 - 500 million workers.

"You will live in the world where unmanned vehicles and private astronautics will become an everyday occurrence. Many different professions will be automated. Therefore, it is very important for you to master the skills of modern technologies to meet the rapidly changing realities of life", the President emphasized.

He also stressed the need for active introduction of STEAM-education. This abbreviation includes five directions - sciences, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
