President made a statement regarding the appeal to the Constitutional Council

The press service of the Head of State published a statement of Nursultan Nazarbayev regarding the appeal to the Constitutional Council, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"Since the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1995 to the present, 220 appeals have been sent to the Constitutional Council, including 22 presidential appeals.

According to the Law "On the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the Constitutional Council has the right of official interpretation of the Constitution. The presence of gaps in the legislation is normal.

For example, the Constitution does not define the conditions for the replacement of the President, and also does not provide for cases of his voluntary retirement. All constitutions of the world have such norms. Due to the great relevance of these aspects, I asked the Constitutional Council to clarify these provisions.

Today, society is interested in the issue of elections. However, do not create a stir around this topic. The Constitution of the country, the Constitutional Law "On the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan" clearly outlines the order and time of the elections, the terms for termination of the powers. Under the Constitution, the President has the right to announce early elections, but this is not expected. Therefore, it is necessary to remain calm and continue to engage in daily activities," said the President.
