Trade, economic and investment cooperation were the main focus of the meetings of the Kazakh delegation led by Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev. The delegation also included Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev and representatives of Kazakh Invest NC JSC.
During the visit, the Kazakh delegation took part in the largest international conference PETROTECH-2019 devoted to the issues of renewable energy sources, development of technologies for exploration and mining.
During the session titled “Collaborating for a sustainable and secure energy access" Minister Kanat Bozumbayev informed about the energy potential of Kazakhstan, modernization of the energy sector in the country and invited international investors to cooperate with Kazakhstan in this area.
During the meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India Dharmendra Pradhan, potential areas of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, prospects for cooperation of Kazakh and Indian companies in the field of exploration and development of oil and gas fields were discussed.
It should be noted that both ministers are chairmen in the Kazakhstan-India Intergovernmental Commission from their countries, and within the implementation of the agreements adopted during the 13th IGC meeting in Astana, the sides agreed to hold a regular meeting in 2019.
The Kazakh delegation also held negotiations with representatives of the Indian business community, in particular with the President of the Indian Importers Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leadership of the Confederation of Indian Industry and a number of major companies like ONGC, CG Corporation, Jaypee Group, KUSUM Group, Simon Group, Sterling&Wilson Pvt. Ltd, J M Baxi Group, Larsen&Toubro ltd, during which the sides discussed participation of Indian companies in promising investment projects in Kazakhstan.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held a number of separate meetings, including discussion of a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation with Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Gitesh Sarma.
Trade, economic and investment cooperation, integration of transport flows and economic benefits of using the transit capabilities of Kazakhstan and India were discussed at a meeting of the Kazakh diplomat with Special Secretary of the Department of Commerce of India for Logistics N. Sivasailam. To enhance cooperation, an agreement was reached to speed up the establishment of an Ad Hoc Working Group on Transport and Logistics, and to hold its first meeting in April 2019 in India.
At the meeting with the IndiGo company, the issue of opening new daily flights on the Mumbai-Almaty route was discussed.
Along with this, Yermek Kosherbayev met with Deputy National Security Advisor of India P. Saran. The sides agreed to hold the 3rd high-level meeting of the Security Council of Kazakhstan and India this March.
During the visit, a memorandum of cooperation was also signed between Kazakh Invest NC JSC and the largest energy conglomerate of India, NTPC Limited. The document signed provides for interaction of the parties in projects aimed at constructing solar power plants, as well as participation of the Indian company in projects of operating coal stations in the territory of Kazakhstan.
