Head of state, other top officials arrive at the scene explosion of military compound in southern Kazakhstan, population evacuated

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, flew to Arys to personally assess the impact of the emergency there. The President went to Arys together with Deputy Prime Minister Zhenis Kasymbek and heads of responsible state bodies, said press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Berik Kurmangali.

In the town Arys, police forces are involved in protecting public order, property of the evacuated population, escorting people from the town. In total, 463 personnel and 53 units of equipment were pooled to the emergency situation site. "For the protection of public order, 500 servicemen of the military unit 6506 of the National Guard stationed in Shymkent were sent to Arys. The situation is under the control of the internal affairs agencies," the ministry said.

Information was placed in social media about the missing children from Arys. Whereabouts of the evacuees are being established. “The Ministry of the Interior urges not to panic and trust the verified information from official sources. Shymkent Emergency Department has a hotline where you can get any information around the clock. The number of the hotline is 8 (7252) 44-94-72”, - it is informed.
