President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received today Minister of Defense Nurlan Yermekbayev.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed on the operational capability of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and on the progress of recovery operations in the town of Arys. In particular, the minister reported to the President about the measures being taken to search for and clean up the territory of the town from ammunition elements, and on restoring the activities of the military camp in Arys.
According to the Minister of Defense, around 3,000 tons of ammunition has been removed from the warehouses to safe places as of today. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev entrusted the minister with ensuring the timely execution of all works for the mitigation of the explosion consequences and the removal of ammunition, and with conferring awards on the killed officers and the servicemen and representatives of the respective services, who distinguished themselves during the rescue and recovery operations.
Besides, the Head of State was informed about the preparations for the upcoming International Army Games, some stages of which will take place in Kazakhstan. It is to be recalled that a series of blasts occurred June 24 at the depot of the military unit in Arys.
