The French President Emmanuel Macron plans to visit Kazakhstan in the near future, as follows from the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry following the results of bilateral negotiations in Paris. According to the press service released on October 2, a wide range of interaction in a bilateral format and at multilateral platforms was discussed in Paris by the Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko and the French State Secretary of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the French Co-Chair of the Kazakh-French Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.
“The central place during the negotiations was occupied by the issues of further deepening the bilateral strategic partnership in all key areas. Separately, the progress of the implementation of priority projects was examined in the context of the preparation for the visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron to Kazakhstan in the near future, which should give a new impetus to cooperation,” the message said.
Vasilenko reiterated the commitment of the Kazakh side to expand the spectrum of interaction, including in such new areas as digitalisation, agriculture, alternative energy. In turn, Lemoyne, a member of the French government, praised the level and dynamics of cooperation with Kazakhstan in all areas, confirming the strong interest of Paris in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
"The parties noted the desire to strengthen cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, nuclear and aerospace industries, as well as the so-called decentralised partnership between the regions of the two countries," the press release said.
Vasilenko represented Kazakhstan at official funeral ceremonies in connection with the death of ex-President of France Jacques Chirac. According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, France is among the 5 key trade and investment partners of Kazakhstan. Over 10 years, mutual trade has reached more than 50 billion US dollar. Kazakhstan has over 130 companies with the French capital.
