In the context of crops, their volumes in relation to last year are in most cases lower than last year's level. This year, as of October 1, grain in Kazakhstan is almost 20% less than last year.

As of October 1, 2019, 12,654,519 tonnes of grain were recorded. In 2018, there were 15,639,739 tonnes of grain. This year's grain stocks decreased by 2,985,220 tonnes, or by 19.1%, compared to last year.

In absolute terms, wheat turned out to be the least. Its reserves this year as of October 1 were reduced by 2,676,600 tonnes from 11,645,072 in 2018 to 8,968,472 tonnes in 2019. More than 100 thousand tonnes of barley were lost in reserves. Its quantity decreased by 128,130 tonnes from 2,756,827 to 2,628,697 tonnes. This year, stocks of oats, buckwheat, rye and millet decreased in different volumes.

But there are exceptions. Stocks of corn and rice increased this year. Rice increased by 62,642 tonnes from 223,588 to 286,230 tonnes, and corn by 34,169 tonnes from 214,523 to 248,692 tonnes.

In relative percentages compared to last year, the picture is somewhat different. Buckwheat decreased by 53% compared to the previous year, rye by 59.6%, millet by 67.6%, and wheat by 77%.

The main reduction occurred in the food grain segment, 98% of the total reduction. This year, food grain inventories decreased from 12,420,216 to 9,493,556 tonnes, by 2,926,660 tonnes or 23.6%.

The availability of feed grain is quite comparable to last year's level. This year it is less by 0.6% and decreased from 2,402,796 to 2,387,298 tonnes, by 15,498 tonnes. Seed grain this year is also less by 43,062 tonnes, or 5.3%. Last year it was 816,727 tonnes, and in the current it is 773,665 tonnes.
