Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

During the talks, Tokayev emphasized that the official visit of Alexander Lukashenko would give a powerful impetus to the development of the Kazakh-Belarus strategic partnership and economic cooperation.

"Your stay here is a welcome event for us, since it is a good opportunity to confirm friendly relations and cooperation between our states, "- said the President of Kazakhstan.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and emphasized the historically established friendly nature of relations between the two countries.

“I want to note that our relations with Kazakhstan are close, our economies are complementary, and we always create new opportunities for each other. Kazakhstan needs everything that we produce in the country, and everything that you produce in Kazakhstan, we are ready to buy, "said the President of Belarus.

The parties considered a wide range of bilateral agenda issues. The main focus of the talks was on building up trade and economic partnerships. Interaction in the political, cultural and humanitarian areas, within the framework of international structures was discussed too.

Tokayev said that the documents signed as a result of negotiations are a serious step in deepening cooperation between the two countries.

The two Presidents signed a Joint Statement, which aims to bring bilateral cooperation onto a new plane.

In addition, the following documents were signed:

- Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Belarus on cooperation in the field of migration;

- Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan and the Investigative Committee of Belarus;

- Agreement on cooperation and interaction between the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan and the Operational and Analytical Center under the President of Belarus;

- The cooperation plan between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Belarus for 2020-2021;

- An agreement between the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan and the State Property Committee of Belarus;

- Agreement between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on cooperation in the exchange of earth remote sensing data.

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Belarus, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Alexander Lukashenko held a joint press conference following bilateral talks.

The President of Kazakhstan said that in the talks, the parties came to a common opinion on a number of important cooperation areas, primarily in the trade-economic sphere, and an agreement reached to develop a special long-term plan between the governments of the two countries to enhance trade. Opportunities of the Eurasian Economic Union were noted, of transit-transport interaction, which plays a significant role in the relations between the two countries.

The President noted the potential of mutual cooperation in the field of IT, citing as an example the successful activities of the Nazarbayev University, the international technology park of IT startups "Astana Hub", the High-Tech Park in Minsk, as well as in the field of finance, proposing cooperation through the International Financial Center "Astana".

The President of Kazakhstan also announced the intention of the two states to develop economic ties between the regions.

Broaching development of culture-humanitarian ties, cooperation in science and education, he noted that celebration of the 75th anniversary of the common Victory in the Great Patriotic War was also raised during the talks.

In conclusion, Tokayev emphasized that the visit of Lukashenko was in the spirit of mutual understanding and trust, and expressed confidence that the agreements reached and the decisions taken would serve the benefit of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Belarus.
