The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi attended the reception of German Eastern Business Association (OAOEV) as the guest of honour. From the German side, the guest of honour was Peter Altmaier, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The heads of the government bodies of Germany, Eastern European and Central Asian countries as well as leading German companies and business associations attended the event. In total, about 350 participants attended the event.
In his speech, Mukhtar Tleuberdi thanked the OAOEV for the significant contribution to development of business ties between business communities of the two countries.
“For us, Germany is a key partner in the European Union. Our relations with Germany have a high strategic priority. We are glad that Germany attaches great importance to cooperation with Kazakhstan. Our country accounts for 86% of all trade between Germany and Central Asia. About 900 German companies operating in Kazakhstan make a serious contribution to the modernization and development of our economy,” – noted the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister urged German businessmen to invest in Kazakhstan and talked about various incentives and preferential conditions that increase the country’s investment attractiveness and significantly expand opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership.
In addition, during the reception, Mukhtar Tleuberdi held a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the largest companies in Germany, including REWE (trade), REMONDIS (waste management and raw materials processing), Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisburg port), Giesecke + Devrient GmbH (security technology) and others.
It is worth noting that the German Eastern Business Association is one of the authoritative organizations that unites about 200 leading companies in Germany in various sectors of the economy, oversees issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation with 28 countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including the Russian Federation, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine and others.
The invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the main guest of honor has largely resulted from the successful outcome of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to Germany in December last year and growing interest of German businessmen to invest in Kazakhstan.
