Elbasy held a meeting of RK Security Council

Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting of the Security Council of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the situation in the Kordai district of the Zhambyl region, the issues of ensuring biological safety and countering the spread of coronavirus infection were examined.

Opening the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his condolences to the families of those who died as a result of the events in the Kordai district and wished a speedy recovery to all the victims.

The Chairman of the Security Council recalled that Kazakhstan experienced great difficulties in the social and economic spheres after gaining independence.

Elbasy instructed to carefully study the causes of the situation and punish the perpetrators in accordance with the law.

Elbasy noted that at present, at the instructions of President Tokayev, the Government and the regional akimat are taking measures to restore normal life in the affected settlements.

Special attention was also paid to the quality of work of local executive and law enforcement bodies, Kazakhstan people’s Assembly and its regional branches.

During the meeting, the detailed reports were presented by the akim of the Zhambyl region B. Saparbayev, Minister of Internal Affairs E. Turgumbayev.

As part of the discussion of the first issue, the central state and local executive bodies were tasked to further implement programs aimed at solving socio-economic problems in the regions of the country, including in the areas of employment and infrastructure development, as well as reconstruction and construction of social facilities.

On the second issue of the agenda of the meeting, a report was made by Health Minister Y. Birtanov.

The Chairman of the Security Council noted that the situation around the coronavirus could negatively affect both the Chinese economy and the Kazakhstan economy.

“We need to be ready for everything, to ensure stocks of medicines and other necessary resources. This issue should be under control. In such cases, we must have countermeasures, including prevent the negative impact of external factor on the national economy," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
