Kazakh head of state to announce new measures to “stabilise” fresh virus surge

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said Wednesday that the country control the spread of coronavirus and tomorrow the government will announce new measures to stabilise the situation.

Earlier on Wednesday, the head of the Department of public health of the capital of Kazakhstan reported that in Noor-Sultan decided to increase the number of coronavirus hospitals due to a sharp increase in the number of such patients.

Kazakhstan recorded 21.717 cases of infection with coronavirus, of which 6.175 asymptomatic. 88 patients have succumbed.

“The situation with coronavirus because of the mass of non-citizens of the quarantine regime remains difficult, but is under the control of the government. Tomorrow it will announce measures to stabilize the epidemiological situation, including increased testing,” wrote Tokayev on Twitter.

Authorities have not announced whether to re-enter the quarantine restrictions which were lifted on 1 June. This week the restrictive measures because of COVID-19 has been tightened in the biggest city of the country Almaty.

In early June, the press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Berik Uali reported that his test coronavirus “showed a positive result, despite all precautions,” and said that the President Tokayev remains healthy.
