The Kazakh people could not completely get rid of the "five enemies" mentioned by Abay in his work. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wrote about this in his article "Abai - Ruhani Reformer".

"Next year we will mark the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan Independence. However, our society still shows some shortcomings about which the great thinker was so worried. Unfortunately, we could not completely get rid of the" five enemies "mentioned by Abai. Quite often we witness laziness, lofty talk among our citizens, who still gravitate towards an idle lifestyle, politicization of every social event, rather than everyday work," the President said.

In the publication, Tokayev noted that Abai urged not to live from holiday to holiday, but to get used to work, to grow spiritually.

"Abai's doctrines are relevant, topical to this day. That is why we never cease to admire the depth of his thoughts, the ability to foresee the challenges of the future. Abai's doctrines are relevant in a number of areas. First of all, it is achievement of knowledge. We can take a worthy place in the world only thanks to knowledge. Modern education opens up the way to the formation of an intellectual nation ", - the President said.

Secondly, it is nurturing. It is necessary to give the right guidance in life to the young generation. One must always remember the commandment of the great thinker: "Do not think about profit, think about honor, strive to know as much as possible."

“Thirdly, mastering new professions. The poet dreamed that every Kazakh would become a master of his craft. This is especially important in a rapidly changing, competitive world. Hakim Abai said: “Wealth dries up over time, but skill does not.” We must fundamentally change our attitude to work and development of new skills. The key to wealth and happiness is in your favorite profession, "the President of Kazakhstan continued.

Fourth, the problem of solidarity. Abai always put the unity and well-being of the society above all else. He called on the people to solidarity, saying that "if Kazakhs do not see each other as friends, then everything is in vain."

"Our country is going through a very difficult period, which requires from us mutual support, accord and even stronger unity. Abai tirelessly called for this, and turning to his work at such a difficult stage in our history is appropriate. Abai's words will never become outdated, they are understandable and universal. His thoughts and edifications, expressed in the perfect forms of poetry and prose, serve as a life guide to this day," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wrote.

He noted that reflections on the future of our people, as well as compassion and love for people - these moral postulates of the great thinker are extremely relevant for the present generation of our country.
