President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting on the implementation of the law enforcement and judicial systems reform in the framework of the implementation of the tasks set in the state-of-the-nation Address delivered the day before. As Tokayev noted, the main goal of the upcoming changes should be to ensure the rule of law, justice and security of the population.
The main focus of the meeting was formation of a three-tier model of ensuring the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens and delineation of powers of law enforcement and judicial authorities. As the President underscored, this system is designed to form reliable mechanisms for guaranteeing legality and justice.
Tokayev outlined the main directions in implementation of the provisions of the Address "Kazakhstan in a new reality: time for action" and gave a number of specific instructions to the heads of law enforcement bodies.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Presidential Executive Office Yerlan Koshanov, Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Security Council Asset Issekeshev, First Deputy Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dauren Abayev, Prosecutor General Gizat Nurdauletov, Chairman of the National Security Committee Karim Massimov, Presidential Aide Yerlan Karin, Defense Minister Nurlan Yermekbayev, Interior Minister Yerlan Turgumbayev.
