President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Prime Minister Askar Mamin. Tokayev was briefed on the measures taken to stabilize the sanitary-epidemiological situation and on topical issues of the country's socio-economic development.
Askar Mamin told the President that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country is under control. As part of preparedness for a new coronavirus infection wave, work is being carried out on drug provision of medical organizations and the population, supply of ventilators and oxygen concentrators to hospitals, equipping regions with mobile diagnostic systems, digital X-ray machines, mobile teams and ambulances. Construction of modular infectious hospitals has been completed in 10 out of 13 regions, the remaining three will be commissioned by the end of November this year.
Republican and regional stabilization funds were established, in which a two-month supply of 91 types of medicines and personal protective equipment for the health care system was formed. In order to prevent a shortage of drugs in pharmacies, an additional stock of 33 most demanded drugs is being formed to saturate the retail pharmacy network.
Work is going on to enhance the PCR testing volume. According to the PM, due to the increase in the number of laboratories to 124, the testing coverage of the population has grown 2.5 times, the cost of PCR tests was reduced.
Sanitary and epidemiological control at border checkpoints was tightened. At the same time business entities are gradually resuming work in the regions with a "green" stable epidemiological situation, provided that there is no increase in morbidity.Steps were taken to support business entities, attract foreign investment, provide employment and to address other pressing issues of the country's socio-economic development.
The President underscored the importance of steady fulfillment of the plans outlined by the Government, taking into account the pessimistic forecasts of the head of WHO regarding the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic spread in the coming months.
