Kazakhstan will firmly defend its national interests - President

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, took part in the ceremony of presenting state awards and prizes.

The President congratulated the audience on the Independence Day, a pillar of our statehood, a reliable foundation of sovereignty, he emphasized.

The pandemic, he went on to say, prevented a wide celebration of the main national holiday. For the sake of the health, life and well-being of the people, all events will be held in a limited format and online. However, this in no way degrades the value and significance of the Independence Day, the President believes.

"We will continue our external course towards strengthening the international security system, helping to enhance the role of multilateral structures and the UN. We will firmly defend our national interests, consistently pursue a balanced, constructive foreign policy that has proven its effectiveness in the modern multipolar world," Tokayev said.

A new package of reforms will be announced early next year, he added. This will give a new impetus to democratic transformations in Kazakhstan aimed at building a “listening state”, promoting and strengthening the principles of justice and equal opportunities.

Another important event in the coming year will be elections to Majilis and Maslikhats of all levels. Tokayev expressed confidence that the elections will be a demonstration of high civic activism and political maturity of our society, and prove the institutional stability of Kazakhstan's statehood.

Work and merits of Kazakhstanis were highly appreciated, who received their awards from the President during the ceremony.
