President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Minister of Health Aleksey Tsoi.
The President was briefed on measures taken to combat coronavirus in the country, ratings of our country in key indicators of countering the virus. According to the WHO, in the morbidity per 1 million people, Kazakhstan ranks 109th among 221 states, in the number of tests made – 67th place, in mortality – 94th place, in the number of recoveries from COVID-19 – 48th place, in severity of the course of the disease – 50th .
Tokayev was also briefed on the epidemiological situation in the regions, including enhanced quarantine measures and the available resources of the national health system. The Health Minister said that the occupancy of beds in infectious diseases hospitals is 33%, in intensive care units - 21%.
Despite the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, Aleksey Tsoi also noted, the situation in the country is under control, medical services are ready to provide the required assistance to the population.
The minister announced a 4-fold decrease in the death rate in the country from coronavirus compared to July 2020. This shows the efficacy of measures taken to provide care to patients, including at the primary health care level. According to the Ministry, infectious diseases hospitals built in all regions meet international standards and provide patients with all the necessary assistance.
Tokayev instructed Aleksey Tsoi to keep the epidemiological situation under strict control, to properly ensure preparation for mass vaccination, organize timely and full public outreach on it.
