
As part of the official visit of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Dushanbe, in the Kasri Millat palace, negotiations were held with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The parties considered a wide range of issues of the Kazakh-Tajik strategic partnership, paying special attention to strengthening the political dialogue, building up trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They also touched upon the issues of ensuring security and stability in Central Asia and interaction within the framework of international structures.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the leader of Tajikistan for hospitality shown to him and the entire Kazakh delegation.
"We attach special attention and significance to this visit, since the agenda includes very important issues related to the development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation. There is something to talk about. Last year, the volume of trade reached $ 800 million, despite the pandemic. And we are ready to listen to your proposals for trade and economic area in this regard," the President of Kazakhstan said.
The head of state also talked on the issues of the international agenda, noting that both countries successfully cooperate with each other within the framework of the UN, SCO, OSCE. Along with this, the President thanked the Tajik leader for his continued support of Kazakhstani initiatives in the CICA and congratulated him on the successful chairmanship of Tajikistan in this structure in 2018-2020.
"I believe that we have all the possibilities for building up cooperation in all directions. Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are, without any exaggeration, brotherly states," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
"Tajik-Kazakh relations today are dynamically developing in all spheres of cooperation. Kazakhstan ranks second among the leading trade and economic partners of Tajikistan. Spiritual, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, interaction in the field of security is strengthening. Our countries are successfully developing cooperation within the CIS, SCO, CSTO and CICA ", - said the President of Tajikistan.
Emomali Rahmon expressed readiness to further strengthen interaction between the two countries.

In the opinion of the President of Kazakhstan, the talks held are deeply symbolic, since they are taking place in the year of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the two states.Assessing the results of the summit meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the parties managed to identify key areas for further interaction.
"Kazakhstan is one of the leading trade partners of Tajikistan. At the end of last year, we managed not only to maintain the previous volumes of mutual trade, but also to ensure the growth of trade up to $ 800 million. During a pandemic, this is a good result," the President said.
The head of state focused on the importance of building up industrial and investment cooperation. According to him, Kazakhstani companies are ready to create joint ventures for production of cars and buses, construction of a transformer plant in Tajikistan, as well as ensure the supply of railway components, rolling stock, helicopters, metal products for construction of the Rogun HPP.
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the governments of the two countries have started substantive negotiations in this direction and signed a number of documents providing for the implementation of large joint industrial projects.The President called the expansion of cooperation in the field of agriculture a serious impetus for increasing mutual trade.
"Kazakhstan, on mutually beneficial terms, expects to increase the supply of wheat, flour, meat and dairy products. Tajikistan, in turn, has great opportunities for exporting fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan. To support our farmers and reduce unnecessary intermediate chains, we supported the idea of building joint wholesale regulatory centers to ensure the supply of Tajik agricultural products to the Kazakh market," the Head of State said.Along with this, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the need for effective use of the transit and transport potential of the two countries.
In order to stimulate the growth of traffic volumes, the governments were instructed to take measures to optimize tariff policy and improve transportation conditions.
The President expressed confidence that the successful implementation of these agreements would allow to overcome the milestone in mutual trade of $ 1 billion and double this figure in the foreseeable future. In addition, issues of interaction in the water-energy and military-technical spheres occupied an important place on the agenda of the talks.The head of state also talked on plans to expand cultural and humanitarian contacts, including holding cross-days of cultures.
"Kazakhstan will increase the number of educational grants for Tajik students. These measures will bring our youth closer together, will help preserve the continuity of truly friendly relations between our countries," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.
According to the President, during the talks, special attention was paid to the topical aspects of ensuring stability and security in Central Asia.Speaking about the difficult situation in Afghanistan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Tajik side and its leadership for meaningful consultations on such an important issue that is on the world agenda.
"Kazakhstan firmly stands for further unification of efforts of fraternal states to preserve peace, good neighborliness and mutual trust in the region. Central Asia is a territory of unique opportunities and resources with enormous economic, transit, transport and human potential," the Head of State emphasized.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that in order to give a powerful impetus to regional cooperation, the parties agreed to continue mutual consultations at the level of heads of state and government, and also heads of line ministries.The President of Kazakhstan spoke about his invitation to the President of Tajikistan to make a state visit to our country at a convenient time for him.In conclusion, the Head of State announced support for the initiative of the Tajik side to declare 2025 the International year for preservation of glaciers.
